Are you a Mom or Mom-to-be?
mother
What are your needs with respect to being a Mom or Mom-to-be?
I have been making our nest. I recently divorced and if not for being a mom would likely have aimlessly wandered the planet. However my 12 year old daughter and I need to stay put. We need a warm safe bright place to eat, sleep and grow. We both need to grow: both spiritually expanding our relationship with each other, with our community and with God, and physically, strengthening our bodies with organic live foods, exercise, and a comfy bed.
Recent memorable moment about mothering (either your own or others).
We just went to a 6th grade mother daughter weekend retreat that was organized by my daughter's Montessori school. We both enjoyed our time with the other 5 sets of mothers and daughters. It was a chance to play together, to talk about our experiences growing up and about our feelings and views on becoming a woman. By exploring this as a group it sent a signal to the girls that it was safe and reasonable to have questions and discussion about the changes they are going through and anticipating.
Do you have a child with special needs?
No.
What do you do for self-care?
I am working on creating more time for myself. Time that is purely for serving my own needs. This can be for both physical and spiritual work. I joined a womens group last year that has been fun and nurturing. I work hard to eat well to sustain my health. Last year I succeeded in scheduling in regular exercise, but this year I need to put more effort into making this happen. I especially like to walk up and down hills (low impact, outside with fresh air, good cardio workout).
What would you like to give or receive at Mamashare?
I would be happy to find other mothers interested in offering vegan live food (not cooked) for their children and families. I have many years of experience with alternative health and diet and I am happy to share.

I am happy to give feedback to support the growth and success of Mamashare.
What's your sense of community like?
That is an ambiguous question. My sense? Well I have a big community of family and friends. More really than I have time for, but that is a wonderful problem to have. I find community at home, with friends and with extended family. The rewards I get from community are boundless: emotional, physical and financial support, entertainment, personal growth...etc. But ultimately I only enjoy and connect and benefit from my community if I am tuned into my own needs and feelings. Otherwise I feel as frustrated and disconnected with them as I am with myself.
Anything you don't want as a community member?
I don't want people to overstep the boundaries I set at any given time for my privacy and space. In fact, typing something this personal on a website is a little discomforting. I will have to think some more on this.
About Me:
I am 42. I have one daughter. I live in Austin. I am happy and excited. I have recently made many many changes in my life: new home, new love, new work, new car, new me.
